Why Instagram and Facebook aren't great for my business

So bare with me here as the heading might feel a bit off track.

I've been playing around for a while with ways to express my work in a way that feels sustainable and authentic to my business, but in truth, I've discovered that all my work, Sound Baths, 1:1 therapy and breathwork are ALL experiential.

Sound is felt in the body, somatic work (my 1:1 therapy) is felt in the body and breathwork is felt in the body. It has to be felt, experienced and lived to be understood.

This is exactly why I love my work because all 3 experiences take us out of everyday thinking and doing and lead us into feeling, sensing and being. Through these approaches and practises we get to meet and experience completely different aspects of ourselves.

My 1:1 clients often find it hard to explain to their friends and partners what we do in their sessions because it goes beyond words. And yet the changes are happening.

So this is why I use this heading. Its incredibly difficult to convey an embodied experience, as it is lived, it is felt and then it is integrated. Without a great deal of cognitive involvement.

The changes have happened on a level deeper than the mind can comprehend.

This is what the word embodiment means, an experiential lived experience. The more you have engaged in something the more nuance. Oddly, the less explanation we have for it.

This is also why instagram and facebook can become a sticky place especially for therapies and experiential healing and nervous system practises.

Any one can read a book and relay information and it sounds great online. But the real question is have they embodied it? do they know how it feels? can they express the integration of it? probably not.

So instead of spending hours trying to convey my work in 10 second clips.

I have decided to focus more on writing blogs like this and sharing my embodied experience here to those of you who have chosen to read it and are curious.
